FAMILY MEMBERS OF DECEASED ASBESTOS VICTIM WIN COMPENSATION CASE

Sunderland, UK - The family of a woman who died from malignant mesothelioma has been awarded a five-figure judgment by a High Court judge.

Margaret Dobson, an employee for County Luxdon Laundry Limited from 1975 to 1995, passed away in February 2005, nearly five months after she was diagnosed with the deadly asbestos-related lung cancer. Her former employer lost the lawsuit and is responsible for the payout to Mrs. Dobson's family.

Mrs. Dobson was never aware that she had worked with asbestos until inquiries with her former colleagues revealed that two of the company's offices where she had worked contained asbestos-insulated piping. The suit showed that she likely became exposed to the hazardous substance's fibers while performing maintenance work on the pipes.

The family's lawyers said a key factor that led to the decision in their favor was the significant number of witnesses who were able to provide detailed information about Mrs. Dobson's job responsibilities at the company. The witnesses' testimonies helped to prove to the court that her exposure to asbestos happened as a result of her job.

In the end, the High Court ruled that County Luxdon Laundry Limited was responsible for causing Mrs. Dobson's development of mesothelioma.

One of Mrs. Dobson's daughters said that although the money could not make up for her life being taken aware, the family hopes to move forward from this tragedy. They thanked the people who came to her family's aid and helped them win justice for their mother.
